BUDDHA'S MESSAGE ON VIASKHA BUCHA
Today in Southeast Asia we are celebrating Visakha Bucha Day. The commemoration of Buddha’s Birth, Death and Enlightenment, in the Buddhist year of 2569.
Today’s holiday falls on the Full Moon of the 6th lunar month of the year. The Buddhist calendar is a lunisolar calendar in which the months are based on lunar months and years are based on solar years.
A lunar calendar is based on the cycle of the Moon. While a solar calendar follows the position of the sun and the corresponding seasons as Earth orbits the sun.
As a result, one month on a lunar calendar doesn’t begin or end at the same time as the same month on a solar calendar.
This does make a difference, but only in the observer.
The difference I experience is that there is more of an eternal heartbeat of the Moon, which runs deep within the Asian cultures that follow a lunar cycle; a type of natural participation in the continual changes of the Moon’s journey throughout life after life.
Where the Sun moves 1 degree per day. The Moon moves much faster—1/2 degree every hour.
Thus, at any one time as you observe the Moon, and at the same time observe your primordial connection with it, you can either get lost in the continual changes it pours on you, never grasping how to harmonize with them; or you can watch closely, noticing the subtle influences the Moon has on the overall relationship you have with being humble and receptive, and flow into the necessary shifts from one self to another, without pause.
In the configuration of the present astrology, we are hard to find where the Buddha fits in. But in taking a closer look, he is there.
What is most important about this full moon, is the midpoints at the North Node at 3 degrees Pisces, opposite the South Node at 3 degrees Virgo.
The North Node generally is related to our future destiny, and what challenges us to strive and thrive in life at our fullest and most authentic.
The South Node generally has to do with our past, what we are born with and comes easiest to us, and what we are most used to.
The North Node in Pisces forms the unconscious collective of our divine spirit. The South Node in Virgo details the conscious mind to form concrete bites of mundane reality.
The Full Moon in Sagittarius, is ruled by Jupiter; now at 23 degrees Cancer. Jupiter in Cancer enforces the Moon’s act of giving, caring, nurturing, protecting others. Jupiter doesn’t discriminate on who to care for. But the Moon is especially concerned with loved ones.
With the Sagittarius Moon, emotions are broadly experienced toward the greater whole. Plus, in Jupiter ruled Sagittarius, the Moon is able to reflect on emotions, where normally it can’t. You should be able to meditate and observe your emotions, and as I stated, the shifts of the self.
Jupiter as ruler to the Full Moon in Sagittarius, cultivates wise emotions which are more universal and less personal.
The Sun in Gemini is ruled by Mercury, which on the Full Moon is Out of Bounds. Out of Bounds planets have a declination past the Sun’s declination of 23.23 degrees North and 23.23 degrees South.
Furthermore, all Out of Bound planets, do not behave as the norm. That means Mercury which rules the Gemini Sun and all communication, speech, teachings, learning, gathering information, curious, being Out of Bounds, is more unpredictable in its ways of communication, more changeable, faster, and undependable to stay still and not think. With a quick heartbeat, fast breathing, and a rapid mind. . . That doesn’t necessarily mean you or me, it is the collective individual.
This Sun ruled Out of Bounds Mercury, and Jupiter ruled Moon, are in direct literal and figurative opposition.
Jupiter has its fall in Gemini, although is exalted in Cancer. Mercury has its fall in Sagittarius.
It appears that the Nodal axis of 3 degrees Pisces and 3 degrees Virgo is the integration force to encourage a tight association, an agreement, a settlement, a covenant between the Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius. .
And here is Buddha’s message on this sacred holiday of his Birth, Death and Enlightenment for humanity:
With the Sagittarius Full Moon, we are being asked to let go of our personal emotions which hold us to one place, one piece of territory, one tribe, one history.
With the Gemini Full Moon, we are being asked to slow down from our continual mental attachments to a world defined and paced by chaos and confusion.
With the Pisces North Node, the divine forces integrate the emotional freedom of the Jupiter ruled Moon in Sagittarius, while expanding a universal compassion that loves and connects all humanity.
And the Virgo South Node heals the past of countless details which limit our vision, passion and spirit to evolve as individuals on a path of liberation.
This is the Buddha’s message today and every day and the Golden Thread of Awakening for each of us.
Happy Visakha Bucha Day.
